Who Are We: Shankill Women’s Centre
Shankill Women’s Centre is a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charity Status and employs 25 personnel, consisting of core, project and childcare workers, all headed up by the CEO and overseen and supported by a Board of Directors.
It was founded in 1987, as a direct result of a call to action, for women-specific education classes, support, and training services. Since inception, the organisation has developed into its current position as a key provider in North and West Belfast, for Training, Education, Health & Wellbeing, Young Women’s Empowerment and Women’s Network which is all supported by high quality childcare.
Other services provided are – Drop In area where there is always a welcoming listening ear, Advice clinics, Employment information and support, Counselling sessions, and one-off relevant information workshops.
Small Wonders Childcare is a social economy business wholly owned by SWC. It employs 60 people from the local community, providing high quality childcare in a secure, safe, friendly, and stimulating environment. www.childcaresmallwonders.com
